Attend Office Hours


The syllabus specifies that, in order to get an A or a B in this class, you must "Attend office hours (or meet with me by appointment) to discuss class-related topics at least once during the semester."

Step 1: Meet with Me

If you choose to do this assignment, please meet with me during office hours or, if my office hours don't work for you, meet with me by appointment. In our meeting, we can talk about anything you want related to the course—perhaps there's a passage from the reading you found interesting, or perhaps you need help on one of our major paper assignments. What won't count is if you come in just to ask about your grades. Likewise, grading conferences for your major papers don't count either.

A WARNING: My office hours typically get extremely busy right before a major paper is due or right at the end of the semester. I highly recommend you don't put off meeting with me until the last minute, because it might not happen in that case.

Step 2: Document Our Meeting

Once we've met, write a quick memo documenting (1) the date and time we met, (2) the topic of our conversation, and, if applicable, (3) your favorite of my office's many decorations.

Turn It In

You memo should be uploaded to your Submitted folder on Dropbox no later than 9:00pm on Tuesday, July 23. Please follow the file-naming and format guidelines.
